VanIsle Walking Soccer
The following short video explains the basics and the basis of this wonderful game being played here in our Oceanside region.
In late 2015, two PGOSA members asked if we had heard about this non contact sport from England called "Walking Soccer." After a bit of organizing, VanIsle Walking Soccer "kicked off" in March 2016. We are advised we were the first Organized League to form in Canada. The sport is huge in England and Europe and is slowly spreading across North America.
If you would like to check it out, you will find us all 'walking around' the Arbutus Meadows Arena in Nanoose, B.C.. We are always looking for new players from our PGOSA membership and you would be most welcome!
Come and see/try the game for yourself at 2:00 pm, weekly every Tuesday and Thursday. All players must be members of the Parksville Golden Oldies Sports Assocation (PGOSA). Not a member? Then here is access to the PGOSA membership form that you can submit to our membership team!
We play from September to March indoors at Arbutus Meadows Arena and then we play for FREE at the Parksville Community Park from April to September.....usually from about 12:30-2 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesday afternoons.
The current cost to play Walking Soccer is $60 for two one hour sessions each week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and $85.00 for two-90 minute sessions.
If your time is limited, it is just $5.00 to drop in on any session as a PGOSA member-- A terrific deal to get a good bit of light aerobic exercise and enjoy the fellowship of playing a fun, no-contact sport suitable for co-ed play.
